Products > Topographical surveys - GPS

The progress made by GPS, aided by an airborne GPS system (APPLANIX), permits the identification of the parameters of orientation of each exposure at the moment it is taken, on board the aircraft itself. This technique saves a great deal of time and allows for a manipulation and reduction of the number of ground control points necessary. The use of the two techniques (ground surveys and airborne GPS) offers each project an assurance of the highest reliability.

Our team on the ground uses GPS ASHTECH to correlate precisely the control points which are indispensable in the process of aerial triangulation. Topographical surveys are spread over the whole of a territory, in accordance with the needs expressed by the client (for example : a feasibility study before the commencement of specific work).

In effect, these surveys allow the geographical referencing of aerial photos in space by combining the measurement of the position of the camera, the angle of its orientation and the ground control points. These are subsequently converted to the desired co-ordinates (ex : Lambert II). These reference points, identified on the aerial photos, are the known co-ordinates obtained by an operator on the ground equipped with GPS. The precision of the information received is a determining factor in the quality of our map-making.
